The Apple iPhone Rocks???
The Apple iPhone is probably the most “talked-about” phone in recent history. It is a phone, iPod and internet device all rolled up into one.
Seriously. (Well some of the iPod diehards would disagree)
Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the birth of this new hybrid device at the keynote address at the Macworld Conference & Expo in January. Many-a-geek are talking. It has the potential to replace the Treophites in your office come June of this year.
I have Treo, but I am dropping it on the ground more often and ready to make a case for replacing it. eBay will have the first phones for roughly 4x their real value about 2 days after release. Wait about 30 days and you can actually buy one at the announced price: $499 and $599.
So what is the deal with signing an exclusive contract with Cingular Wireless? Well, Cingular was purchased by Bellsouth, which was recently bought by the old, yet NEW, AT&T. So, the marketing games are being played and who will win and who will lose?
Well, if you have Cingular now, want a camera phone, MP3 plater (ala) iPod, cell phone and the web - then perhaps the iPhone is for you.
I know I will be up on eBay this summer watching the war.
The iPhone is a business device that will propel your career at the speed of….
shucks.. broadband wireless????
I want a pink one.

I haven’t bought into the iPod wave yet, except for buying one for my son. I bought Erica a Zune which she loves. When I need music in my office, I either dive into a grundle of MP3s on my hard drive, or stream from the web.

I don’t buy into the iPhone hype either. There was that awe factor when it was first announced and demo footage came online, but it’s a pretty restricted system. It’ll be good for casual users who want a cool looking iPod with phone capabilities, but as for a mobile computer, it just comes short. Very short, in my opinion. We’ll see if I’m wrong in June.
