It Is Boss Day!

Well, it is not exactly a surprise that I break website traffic records right around the holiday, “National Boss Day.”

Today is no exception. My traffic is at an all time high, breaking last year’s record before the day is half over.

What is ironic about this situation is that even with a record number of Google, Yahoo and MSN searches on “Boss Day,” the numbers are still small for the number of workers out there. I am ranking high today in all kinds of searches for the office holiday. I am on the first page of results for almost all the searches.

That means most people do not even know about Boss Day or choose to ignore it. If they really took this thing seriously, my server would go down. I would get hosed.

I wouldn’t mind getting that kind of traffic, but seeing all of the terms people are searching on just makes me think there is something really wrong with managers. Here are some of the contrived things people searched for when they landed on my site today (with, of course some of my annotations):

what to say for boss’s day - (Hi, boss, thanks for being like a Dad)
positive comment to say to the boss - (Desperately trying to find something nice to say)
things to say boss’s day - (How about “good morning”)

what to say in a boss’s day card - (Bought the card out of obligation, nothing to say)

national boss day sayings quotes (Quotes?)
special things to do for boss’s day
boss day things to say or write - (totally at loss for words)

Wow, each year this gets more interesting.
