Tax Rebates - Don’t Get Excited?

Can be found in the Category: Personal Perspective - 15 Mar 2008

Ok, a quick weekend rant. Sorry that this follows a week of no posting, but things have been busy.

I noticed a headline on CNNMoney.com that made me laugh and irritated me at the same time. What a pathetic skewing of economic news. It is obvious more than ever that the media really wants a recession to satiate the American’s growing appetite for negative news.

“Tax Rebates - Don’t Get Excited Yet.” That was the headline.

Then I clicked through to the article and learned that gas prices at the pump may eat up to 1/3 of my rebate.

What?
Well, I can’t think of a better way to engender economic confidence than to tell Americans that their rebate is a wash.

As I have said before, the media will make sure that we experience a recession that otherwise would have never materialized.

For me, I’ll bike and walk more and enjoy my full rebate.
