If You Don’t Like Someone, Don’t Let It Show
Something really struck me as I read “The Manager’s Intelligence Report” the other day.
The article, “Wisdom of the Ages” stated:
“When you do not like someone, don’t let it show. Especially if you outrank them. Never burn bridges or offend others as you move ahead.”
The part that really struck me was, “especially if you outrank them.”
This is such sound advice. As managers, we cannot afford to show our own personal feelings about someone. We can’t help being annoyed by some of the people we work with, but we can help how we respond.
If you are guilty of this, don’t bash yourself. Make a concerted effort to change your behavior. People respond to a genuine change in attitude.
