On Vacation, Physically and Mentally
My wife and I just ran out to Kohls and I found a nice pair of sunglasses to replace my old, but favorite pair that is now at the bottom of the Harpeth River. I lost it while rafting in a wild thunderstorm. It was fun!
However, nothing is better than getting away from the daily grind. Vacation not only offers a reprieve from professional responsibility, it releases us from the “routine of life.”
As we arrived at my aunt and uncle’s beautiful house in the Virginia mountains, I felt “free.” I am not sure how to describe it, other than to say a burden was lifted off of me that I was not in touch with.
Even with our nine month old Molly in tow, life is different. I feel like I am on an adventure. I don’t have enough adventures.
Once I am in this state, I start to do weird things. I bought swimming trunks that have big swirling blue and yellow flowery things on them, but they are cool - at least for now. I probably won’t wear them when I get home.
I am younger now, dropped about 20 years today. I felt comfortable in Old Navy this morning. Weird.
Tomorrow, we leave for the beach for a week. The first day of summer will be spent in the sun, with the sound of waves crashing and an nice cold beer.
Off to the Davinci Science Center with Grandad and the boys.
